What is kpop in japanese

KPOP idols are starting to become global stars. Similarly in Japan, there also is a genre of music called JPOP, a word that stands for all Japanese pop music, which has evolved over the years to become a massive industry within the country.

Japan topped the list of countries that tweeted a lot about K-pop in 2020, based on ordinary Twitter users, reflecting the strong presence of South Korean music in Japan. This phenomenon can be tracked in the music market. The number of K-pop albums that reached the top 100 of Japan’s Oricon charts in 2020 reached 26.

K-pop stands for Korean pop, pop being short for pop music. The name for the genre is first recorded in English around 1990–95. Strongly influenced by Western popular music, K-pop took off in 1992 with Seo Taiji and Boys, who incorporated rap, rock, and dance elements into Korean popular music.

Definitely Anime. Internationally, K-Pop is pretty much still breaking through while on the other hand most people have definitely heard of Anime (or even watched it without knowing it was Anime).

However, a few artists also originate from neighboring Chinese-speaking countries, such as Malaysia and Singapore. The truth is, the reason we don’t see C-Pop groups and artists touring around the world and topping the US charts is because China simply doesn’t have a real financial need to push C-Pop on a global scale.

The industry isn’t targeted to an international audience

One of the biggest reasons that J-Pop is nowhere near as popular as K-Pop is because the Japanese music industry as a whole has very little to no international investment.
