His Net Worth From Lengthy Record Producing Career

The record producer’s net worth from his over 40 years of career might have stacked him with a hefty net worth.

Though the specifics of his net worth and earnings are uncertain, several web publications assume it to be over $100k to $1 million.

Beginning with the American independent company Bethlehem in the 1950s, Taylor established the renowned jazz label Impulse! at ABC/Paramount before becoming the head of Verve Records. He founded his own business, CTI, in 1967.

Taylor aimed to expand Jazz’s appeal beyond its traditional listeners. Through his fantastic body of work, which includes records with excellent sound quality, original ideas, and striking covers, he elevated the bar for Jazz.

He was employed as a staff producer during the record label’s infancy in 1956 by the movie firm. Before expanding the label’s jazz repertoire, he first created themed concept CDs.

Creed Taylor Wife: Was He Married?

Despite having a 40-year career in music, Creed has never given any specifics about his wife or marriage.

The 93-year-old may have been married and have had children, but there are no references to back up that claim as of this writing.

CTI was briefly revived as a standalone organization by Taylor in 1989 and lasted until 1996. The signings featured legendary guitarist Jim Hall, jazz-rock fretboard wizard Larry Coryell, and bassist/composer Charles Fambrough.

Plus, Taylor vanished from the public eye, but a slew of reissues in 2009 sparked a revival of interest in his back catalog.

He pulled together a CTI All-Stars Band at the age of 79, and they toured Europe and produced a live album with his guidance.

Further, Taylor’s final CD maintained faithful to the principles he introduced to jazz in the 1950s with its harmonic blending of sound, thought, and picture.

Family: He Was The Son Of A Mill Owner

Taylor, a mill owner’s son who enjoyed working with black artists throughout his career, was raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, in the western Appalachian region of the state, during the Jim Crow era.

He remembers: “There was one black family, and their kids were my playmates.” Except for the ‘whites’ and ‘coloreds’ drinking fountains at the Greyhound station, which astonished me, it appeared as if the racist incident had never occurred.

Taylor didn’t enjoy bluegrass, which he described as “hillbilly music, the real folk thing,” which was prevalent “two mountain ridges over” from the Carters. By the age of ten, he was listening to huge bands on the radio.

Soon after, he started teaching himself how to play the trumpet, and by the age of 16, he was hitchhiking to hear every touring dance band in his vicinity.
