Authorities said Sunday night that a vehicle containing human remains was found in a California lake near the last estimated location of missing girl Kiely Rodni.
The finding in Prosser Lake, approximately 35 miles west of Reno, Nevada, was officially confirmed Sunday afternoon by Adventures With Purpose, a private group of divers.
According to Andrew Trygg, a representative for the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, investigators were on the scene late Sunday afternoon trying to determine whether the vehicle was driven by Rodni.
The adjoining Placer County Sheriff’s Office later determined the dive team’s report of a body inside but said the deceased’s identity had not been determined.
Kiely Rodni Missing Update: Car And Body Found Near Prosser Creek Reservoir
A press conference was scheduled for Monday morning. Adventures With Purpose said in a statement that it had found a vehicle and was still in the lake.
The team did not immediately respond to questions about what led it to express confidence that its discovery was related to the missing person case.
The team stated that it was discovered in 14 feet of water. The discovery, about 300 yards from the campground, was made with the help of sonar imaging technology, according to Doug Bishop of Adventures With Purpose.
Authorities said they were looking for Kiely Rodni’s 2013 Honda CR-V. A vehicle recovered from the lake on Sunday night was quickly covered with what appeared to be sheets or tarp.
Kiely and the vehicle vanished after her cellphone last transmitted information around 12:30 a.m. on August 6. Authorities had focused on a possible abduction and had repeatedly noted the presence of young people at the celebration.
More than two weeks of searching for the teenage girl included an 80-mile-radius air search and a dive team from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office searching the lake on Thursday.

Kiely Rodni’s Family And Parents Sad After Hearing The News
Kiely Rodni was last seen on Aug. 6 at an outdoor party with more than 100 other people near a campground north of Truckee, California, according to local authorities.
The campground is located on a spit of land with a lake shore in almost every direction.
Her family said in a statement on Saturday that they wanted to spend time away from the spotlight.
“As we remind one another to take deep breaths and focus on our own self-care, we find ourselves in need of a private and quiet space to begin healing and securing our footing before stepping into tomorrow,” the statement said.
According to her family’s statement, when she returns, they will celebrate together and restore their harmony. Rondi, their daughter, will always be loved by them.

Update On Kiely Rodni’s Boyfriend
Kiely Rodni’s boyfriend, Jagger Westfall’s final words to her before she went missing last Saturday morning after leaving a party at a California campground were “take care and don’t do anything stupid.”
On Fox40 on Wednesday, Jagger stated that he has no idea where she is. He stated that he does not have anything to report at the moment, but he is confident that she is alive and well. He went on to say that he is confident that his Kiely will arrive safely.
Jagger stated that he sent a follow-up message complaining about his day, and Kiely texted him a few hours later.
Westfall said that she responded to his text at 10:30 p.m. and then he did not hear from her again.
It’s unclear where her boyfriend was when he sent the texts. Westfall’s confession came as the Placer County Sheriff’s Office released an image of the sweatshirt Rodni was wearing at the party when she went missing on Wednesday.
