What Happened To The Kodiak On Deadliest Catch?

Kodiak from Deadliest Catch was terminated from the show Deadliest Catch. Kodiak appeared in three seasons with Captain Bill.

After the carb fishing vessel removal after season 8, Captain Bill appeared with the new F/V Summer Bay.

In April 2023, a fire on the Kodiak Enterprise board nearly burned it.

The vessel has anchored in the Hylebos Waterway at Trident Seafoods in Tacoma, Washington.

According to Gcaptain, the fire began in the 276-foot ship’s forward position.

Later, it leaked all over the vessel, which could damage its freon tanks.

Freon is toxic when inhaled in large quantities, per US Coast Guard. However, it does not pose harm or safety risks if freon has been released into the atmosphere.

The crew members tried to spray water to stop the fire on the hull.

US Coast Guard has reported analyzing the cooperation port side, there was no sign of water intrusion, and the hull remained undamaged.

The Tacoma Fire Department responders started cooling the situation after they applied water to the vessel’s hull.

They expected to improve the vessel strength as the firefighters cooled down the remaining fires while giving rooms for dewatering.

Overnight, they continued air monitoring, but the result has not shown above-normal levels.

Tacoma Fire Department The US Coast Guard and Environment Protection Agency worked together to deal with the situation.

Kodiak, the fish carrier, is at WCCAN-West Coast Canada, per Marine Traffic.

It has reported its position of 49° 04′ 47.3″ North, 127° 03′ 02.5″ West.

The MarineTraffic Terrestrial Automatic Identification System detected the location on December 24, 2022, at 19:38 LT. It has already been four and half months since it has discovered in that area.

Meanwhile, the Vesselfinder reported its current position was at North America West Coast 29 days ago. As per AIS, it’s floating at a rate of 0.1 knots.

The boat had built in 1997 and sailed under the USA flag.

In the show, people witness Kodiak in different places, including outside Valdez Harbor, Dutch Harbor, King Cove, St. Paul, and more.

In 2012, it left Port of Seattle and bound for Dutch Harbor to begin its King Crab Season.

While in the start of the season, they fly up to King Cove, AK, in the morning after offloading its last load of King Crab in Dutch Harbor.

Once, the vessel tucked behind St. Paul along with the rest of the crab fleet due to Hurricane force winds and heavy freezing spray.

So the weather played a vital role in offloading their crab.

Four years ago, someone commented on its location in Valdez, Alaska.

In season 14, the F/V Kodiak helped Saga when one of the Saga lines was incapable of finding their area in the block broke. As a result, the crew offered them the spare hydraulic lines.
