What Happened To Sean Dougherty? Death From Base Jump Accident And Obituary Notice

Sean Dougherty’s base jump accident led to his death on 20 May 2022. To those who don’t know what a base jump is, it is an adventurous activity that entails a parachute jump from a fixed position, usually a tall structure or cape, as opposed to an airplane.

It is sad that Dougherty, who was into adventures the moment he could walk, lost his life to what he was most passionate about. The sense of adventure in Sean was unmatched. If he learned that a country had a voluminous wave to surf, he would board a plane that evening, surf on Saturday, travel home on Sunday, and return to work on Monday.

Sean Dougherty Base Jump Accident

Sean Dougherty lost his life to a base jump accident on 20 May 2022. He had 400+ base jumps under his belt over the course of seven years. His skydiving experience totals more than 400 jumps, in addition.

Dougherty was on his plan to jump from an Antenna of 225 feet at Columbus, NJ – the United States, on 20 May 2022. The wind was one mph at the time of his exit, and he was calm about the adventure from the beginning.

On that particular day, Sean was with his friend, who saw the accident and reported it. The two were to jump from the exact location, but since Sean didn’t like to be on the rail with his friend simultaneously, his friend jumped first, then Sean. Sean’s friend heard him yell while he was in the air. He heard the rail ringing and Sean yelling simultaneously. Unfortunately, an accident happened, and Sean was declared dead instantly.

Sean’s friend reported that Sean’s parachute was under him like a tard. Sean’s bridal and pilot chute was wrapped over his leg and chest at the site of his death.

Sean Dougherty’s Obituary Notice

O’Leary Funeral Home Ltd released the obituary notice of Sean. The message indicated Sean’s adrenaline rush since childhood and how he was adamant about pursuing adventure in any situation.

Sean began climbing trees, scaling mountains, surfing the ocean, leaping out of planes, and riding motorcycles as soon as he could walk. He terrified his parents to death because of his adrenaline rush. It would be an understatement to say that Sean possessed a spirit of adventure.

He never turned down the chance to pursue his passions and didn’t care about money other than to enable him to travel and show kindness to the people he cared about. According to the Obituary notice, Sean was “the man” who would always be available to help anyone at any time.

Sean founded Sharp Stream Power Washing & Painting a decade ago and grew it into a million-dollar company with his mother and his fantastic crew. His earnings would, however, be invested substantially in his adventurous ventures. No one expected Sean to lose his life someday doing the activity he was most passionate about, and his parents never anticipated their fear since childhood would come true.

On 25 May 2022, a luncheon in honor of Sean was hosted by his parents at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
