The gaming world has thrown a lot of stars at Mike Lamond, aka Huskystarcraft, is just one of them. Recognized globally as an esports commentator for StarCraft gaming competitions, Huskycraft, like most gamers, has branched out to YouTube where it has garnered a huge following.
In recent years, things seem to be very quiet at Huskystarcraft, forcing many to wonder what could have happened to their favorite StarCraft player. Before we discuss his recent projects, let’s see his background and how he rose to fame as a player.
The biography of Mike Lamond
Huskyscraft was born as Michael D Lamond on May 4, 1987, in Bakersfield, CA and raised in Nipomo, CA. He has a big brother. At age 11, Husky and his family moved to Gresham, Oregon. It was around the same time that Husky discovered StarCraft, a real-time strategy video game for PC and MAC owned by Blizzard Entertainment.
Husky started playing on Blizzard’s online Battle.net server and it wasn’t long before he racked up thousands of completed games. Soon he turned to esports and started following South Korean streaming service GOM TV. GOM TV basically broadcasts StarCraft gameplay by professional gamers.
By watching these professional players, Husky developed the idea of making StarCraft a worthy spectator sport by providing engaging commentary. He created a YouTube channel and started posting videos of himself on the StarCraft: Brood War pro contest. To his surprise, the channel is growing in popularity and Husky has to keep up with his audience by posting up to 100 videos in 30 days.
His fame took off in February 2010 when he began commentating StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty matches. As Huskyscraft’s fame grew, he teamed up with HD, his gaming friend and commentator, to form what they called HDH Invitational. It was a StarCraft II tournament where they would invite 16 professional StarCraft II players to compete for cash prizes.
To complement his YouTube channel, Husky, under the name Nerd Alert, started producing parody videos of musical artists like Maroon 5, Justin Bieber, LMFAO, Rebecca Black, and more.
In July 2010, Husky and HD invited other video game commentators to start another YouTube channel, The Game Station.
They modeled the new channel after ESPN, but instead of a station for a variety of sports, the Game Station focused on various game genres. Thanks to Huskystarcraft’s popularity on the video-sharing platform, Game Station was an instant hit.
To focus more on the station, Huskycraft was to move to Los Angeles towards the end of 2010. Along with fellow game commentator, TotalBiscuit, Huskystarcraft became the sponsor of the new gaming team, Axiom ESports. Husky’s involvement in esports began to decline in 2015, as did the frequency with which he posted on his channel.
What happened to Huskystarcraft
Husky’s inactivity as an esports commentator has caused many to wonder what’s really wrong with him. Rumors circulated that he had lost his vocal cords. This rumor, no doubt, stemmed from the fact that Husky’s commentary style involved him: he flowed at a rapid pace and often lost his breath at the height of the game.
Others even went so far as to ask if he died? Well, the world may not know in detail what Huskystarcraft does, but it is actually very much alive.
After quitting esports as a commentator, Husky continued to tweet about his favorite Starcraft game, telling his followers about the latest updates and posting videos of himself.

According to his bio on Twitter, he is the director / director / producer of the channel. Judging by the success of this channel, Mike Lamond is doing a great job. The channel has over 9.4 million subscribers and over 2.2 billion views.

Details of Huskystarcraft’s relationship with Rosanna Pansino are not readily available. However, we think they started dating around 2012 when he started appearing in her videos. In 2013, they bought a two-story, 3,386-square-foot house in Los Angeles for $1.54 million.
About three years later, in August 2016, he bought a luxurious two-story property in Tarzana’s San Fernando Valley for nearly $4 million. The exact details of Huskystarcraft’s earnings may not be known, but he’s certainly paid well for his management duties on Nerdy Nummies. How do we know? Rosanio wins 7 figures every year. Per Forbes, she earned $6 million in 2017.
