What Happened To Frank Vogel – Did The Coach Get Fired By The Lakers

Frank Paul Vogel, who led the Los Angeles Lakers to their 17th championship and his first against the Miami Heat in the 2020 NBA Finals, is on the verge of leaving the team. Discover what transpired between the coach and the team.

Vogel was named head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers on May 13, 2019. He led the team to the highest record and an NBA championship in his first season, which had the best record in the Western Conference and the third-best record in the NBA.

Because the Lakers had the best record in the Western Conference, he was named head coach of the 2020 NBA All-Star Game.

In his second season, the team couldn’t make it due to the injury of a few players. They made the playoffs for the second year in a row but were eliminated in the first round by the eventual Western Conference champion Phoenix Suns in six games.

Lakers Frank Goel: Did He Get Fired? What Happened To Frank Goel Contract?

Following a disappointing 2021-22 season, it was widely expected that the Lakers would make some changes to improve for the following season.

There were rumors that head coach Frank Vogel would be fired, but those made no sense at the time. People were more concerned with the player side of things, such as trading Russell Westbrook or acquiring other superstars.

However, he will be fired by the Lakers as soon as Monday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The announcement came after the Lakers’ final game of the season, a 146-141 overtime victory over the Denver Nuggets.

The timing of the announcement complicated an already complicated situation along with his contract with the team.

Assistant coach David Fizdale will serve as the team’s interim head coach until then.

Frank Vogel’s contract with the Lakers expires in 2023. However, the length of Vogel’s contract was not disclosed when the Lakers announced his extension.

Vogel has been the Lakers’ head coach for three seasons, winning a championship in his first season. He is well aware that one of the consequences of having such a high-profile job is that there is little room for failure.

The coach was probably aware of what was about to happen.
