Who Is Drag Racing Legend Tony Christian?
Tony Christian had a prodigious career as a driver. He was part of the NMCA at the earlier stage of his career. He was recognized as Tony “The Hurricane” Christian.
He has raced in the NHRA and competed in the Pro Stock. During the 1970s and 1980s, he established himself as a prominent name in racing. His final race happened in 2010 at the Real World Street National in Orlando, Florida.
Christian is also remembered for his feud with Pat Musi at one point during NMCA. Both the racers took the pro racing to newer heights. They stoked the fires of so-called “street legal” drag racing, not just with a clean, inexperienced ’69 Camaro and a righteous pink ’57 Chevy, but also with trash talking and arrogance never heard before.
The American racer was famous for riding his nitrous-fed ’57 Chevy. He and his car have been featured on the cover of several racing magazines.
The Pro Street era, when tubbed, steel-bodied, and street legal door slammers drew attention from coast to coast, dominated magazine covers, and spawned one storyline after another, was one of the most thrilling periods in drag racing history.
Christian was among the crucial pioneers in the Pro Street Movement. He drove his pink nitrous-fed 1957 Chevy and many huge headlines.
