There have been several rumors floating around the internet regarding Texas woman Andrea Prudente’s arrest for miscarriage.
Due to Maltese legislation banning abortions, Andrea, who had a partial miscarriage while on vacation in Malta, was undergoing treatment on Friday in a hospital on the Spanish island of Mallorca, according to the woman’s spouse.
In order to prevent a potentially fatal infection, specialists at the Son Espases University Hospital in Palma de Mallorca were getting ready to perform an operation to remove the remaining fetal tissue.
Besides, the pair were flown from Malta to Mallorca late on Thursday for medical evacuation.
Here’s what we know about the couple.
Texas Woman Andrea Prudente Arrested For Miscarriage
Andrea Prudente, a Texas woman, hasn’t been arrested for miscarriage in Malta. Even in dire situations like hers, abortion is prohibited in Malta, according to the press.
The only country that forbids abortions for any reason is Malta, a member of the European Union.
According to Maltese law, anyone found guilty of “inducing a miscarriage” or “terminating a child” may face up to three years in jail. Both expectant mothers and medical professionals fall under this category.
After the Maltese physicians denied her request for a possibly life-saving abortion following a medical emergency, Weeldreyer informed Euronews that Prudente’s life had been in mortal peril.
Prudente’s waters unexpectedly broke last week when the couple was vacationing in Malta and enjoying their “babymoon.”
Doctors advised Prudente, 38, from the Seattle area that she could not have an abortion because it is forbidden in Malta, even though her 16-week-old fetus was no longer viable and there were serious threats to her life.

What Happened To Andrea Prudente In Malta?
Prudente was told she was miscarrying, and the placenta had split from her uterus when she was transported to the hospital about a week into the pregnancy.
It indicated that the fetus was no longer viable and Prudente’s life would be at grave risk unless the pregnancy was terminated. Nevertheless, even in dire situations like hers, abortion is not authorized in Malta.
However, the infant’s heart was still beating, which is prohibited by law in Malta and makes it impossible for doctors to induce labor. The pair has been waiting in a hospital room for the past week.
Prudente’s condition makes the lengthy travel unsafe, and the possibility of her miscarrying while in flight poses a possibly catastrophic risk, thus the pair is unable to go back to America.
Plus, Prudente’s attorney and the founder of the Women’s Rights Foundation in Malta, Lara Dimitrijevic, acknowledged that there is no hope for the pair in Malta.

Where Is Andrea Prudente Now?
Following a medical evacuation flight, Andrea Prudente is now getting care at a hospital on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
Doctors for Life, a Malta-based pro-life organization, released a statement on the Prudente case on Wednesday, stating that it “firmly believes that the life of the mother always has to be safeguarded.”
According to the report, in situations like these, “careful examination is conducted to determine the seriousness of the problem” and, after consulting with two professionals, “the uterus is always evacuated” if major bleeding or infection develops.
The group defended Malta’s abortion law by saying that if delivery is judged urgent, “then this is done, even if the fetus is too immature to survive outside the womb.”
