American actress, comedian, and director Amanda Bearse was born on August 9, 1958. She first gained prominence for her performance in the supernatural horror film “Fright Night” in 1985, then from 1987 until 1997, she gained even more notoriety as Marcy Rhoades D’Arcy in the popular Fox sitcom “Married… with Children.”
However, Bearse’s career extends beyond acting; in addition to producing over 90 episodes of different comedy series, she has made a significant contribution to television.
Bearse made her television debut in the ABC daytime serial opera “All My Children” in 1982, and she continued to portray Amanda Cousins there until 1983.
The next year, she was offered a small part in the comedy “Protocol,” starring Goldie Hawn. Later, she appeared in the sex comedy “Fraternity Vacation.” Nevertheless, Bearse became well-known in 1985 thanks to her performance as the title character in the supernatural horror film “Fright Night.”
After a brief hiatus, she made her television comeback in 1986 with a guest starring part in the ABC drama series “Hotel.” But Bearse’s most well-known role was as the feminist next-door neighbor Marcy Rhoades (later Marcy D’Arcy) in the Fox sitcom “Married… with Children,” which starred Ed O’Neill and Katey Sagal.
What happened to Amanda Bearse?
Bearse appeared to vanish from TV screens after Married… with Children ended, but that was on purpose. She began a plan to go from acting to working behind the camera during the sixth season of the show and became the first cast member to helm an episode.
