Alan Harte has been identified as a ringleader of the Lunney gang, and the judge has lifted his anonymity order, allowing him to expose his real name.
Lawyers for Alan Harte, who was sentenced to 30 years in jail last month for assaulting and illegally detaining Quinn Holdings director Alan Quinn, have filed an appeal.
Kevin Lunney’s kidnappers will serve a total of 70 years in prison for their cruel and brutal assault.

The High Court has withdrawn an order protecting the identity of Alan Harte, convicted of kidnapping businessman Kevin Lunney and inflicting horrific harm on him.
Last month, Alan was sentenced to 30 years in jail by the non-jury Special Criminal Court for causing severe harm to Quinn Industrial Holdings director and wrongfully imprisoning him in 2019.
Mr. Justice Charles Meenan, who refused a motion by Mr. Harte’s attorneys to further extend Mr. Harte’s anonymity, lifted the injunction. Mr. Harte should be named, according to the DPP.
The judge ruled there was “no basis” for prolonging the order, citing article 34 of the Irish Constitution, which provides that justice must be delivered publicly.
The judge further stated that Mr. Harte, who is 40 years old and lives at Island Quay Apartments in East Wall, Dublin 3, has legal protections against any discrimination he alleges he may face due to any publicity resulting from his trial and conviction by the SCC.
