Was Peter Gabriel kicked out of Genesis? Why did Peter Gabriel leave Genesis?

Peter Brian Gabriel is a musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and activist from England. He rose to prominence as the original lead singer of Genesis, a progressive rock band.

Genesis is one of the world’s best-selling music groups, having sold between 100 million and 150 million albums worldwide. They have received numerous awards. Genesis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

Peter Gabriel was not kicked out of Genesis. On August 15, 1975, Peter Gabriel officially announced his departure from Genesis, ending weeks of speculation that a split was imminent.

A record company spokesman said at the time that Gabriel was leaving to pursue “other literary and experimental interests outside of music.”

One of the reasons he gave for quitting was that he wanted to spend more time with his family. Peter has had a successful solo career since leaving Genesis in 1975, selling millions of records and winning numerous awards.
