Keisha Lance Bottoms, former Atlanta mayor claimed she was refused service at a neighborhood eatery because of her attire. Bottoms stated the alleged incident occurred at The capital grille at Perimeter Mall in a Twitter post on Friday afternoon.
Bottoms, 52, commented, “I was just turned away at @CapitalGrille at Perimeter Mall because I was wearing leggings.” The tweet had over 18,000 likes and 5,400 comments at the time of publication, with several people pointing dress code.
According to the restaurant’s website, gym wear, tank tops, hats, anything with foul language or imagery, and exposed garments are all prohibited.
Bottoms remarked on Twitter that the restaurant’s refusal to allow what she termed “mall” apparel, despite its proximity to one, was “strange.”
“It’s strange that a restaurant in a mall parking lot refuses to serve clients dressed in “mall” clothing. Bottoms wrote, “I asked whether I may sit in the bar area and was told no.”

Bottoms claims in a later tweet that she saw a woman dressed in identical clothing enter the restaurant but that she did not know the woman had departed. She doesn’t say what the woman was wearing, but the post suggests she was dressed similarly to the former mayor.
