Set to be one of the biggest DC Comics movies, The Flash is already shrouded in a mist of rumors and leakages.
Set for a premiere in November 2022, a series of unfortunate events has led to its delay. The movie is now finally bound to release in June 2023. In addition to the delay, a troubling problem with its primary actor, Ezra Miller, has come to light.
The Justice League actor was detained twice in Hawaii for traffic infractions, disruptive behavior, and harassment. Warner Bros. has not officially commented on the actor’s misconduct, but previous reports suggested that the actor’s continued involvement in the franchise may be at risk. And now, it is rumored that the star will no longer play a part in any upcoming DC movies.
As per leaks, Warner Bros. is looking forward to a theatrical release, despite all the controversies surrounding its star, Ezra Miller. However, considering how the movie performs, Warner Bros. may reconsider reinstating Miller for all upcoming projects.
It is also being speculated that The Flash delves into the “erasure” of the Snyderverse. We have to wait to watch the movie to see if this rumor has some base to it.
The impending solo adventure may finally shed light on the franchise’s actual state, and it appears that the studio will do everything it takes to steer the movie in its favor.
Cast & Crew Explained
Directed by Andy Muschietti and produced by Michael Disco, The Flash is all set to release with some of the biggest names in the DC franchise.
After briefly appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, Ezra Miller is back to reprise his role as Barry Allen, a.k.a. The Flash, for a third time. He will share the screen along with two separate iterations of the Caped Crusader, neither of which may be the one played by Robert Pattinson. In Justice League, Barry Allen and the Dark Knight, played by Ben Affleck, battled Steppenwolf together.
Michael Keaton plays the role of the second Caped Crusader in the movie. Known for donning the fabled cowl in Tim Burton’s Batman as well as Batman Returns, Keaton’s reappearance was only formally announced in April of 2021. Keaton’s comeback was quite a secret for most of the year.
As journalist Iris West, Barry’s love interest, Kiersey Clemons will reprise her Zack Snyder’s role in Justice League. Sasha Calle will play the DCEU-style Supergirl adding to the superhero roster. We do not know as of yet if she plays as Lara Lane-Kent, Kara Danvers, or another Kryptonian superhero incarnation. We also have Michael Shannon will be reprising his role as General Zod.
Maribel Verdu, who starred in Pan’s Labyrinth, will be seen in the crucial part of Barry’s mother, Nora Allen, and Henry will appear very differently from how we saw him in Justice League. Ron Livingston from Office Space will take Billy Crudup’s role. Ian Loh will be seen in the part of young Barry Allen.
But don’t be shocked if prominent actors who have appeared as characters in earlier DC movies and TV shows make cameos in The Flash. It could be a way to turn into a nostalgic treat for DC to rival the star-studded cast of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
