Russo-Ukrainian War: Ukrainian Negotiator Mykhailo Podolyak News Update

The Russo-Ukrainian War is an ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine (together with pro-Russian rebel groups).

It began in February 2014, following the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity, and was initially centered on the status of Crimea and sections of the Donbas, both of which are internationally recognized as being part of Ukraine.

Following a Russian military buildup on the Russia–Ukraine border beginning in late 2021, the war escalated substantially on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Ukrainian presidential advisor and negotiator Mykhailo Podolyak said on Sunday that Ukraine is working with Israel and Turkey as mediators to finalize a site and framework for peace talks with Russia.

“There will be a meeting after everything has been worked out. I don’t think it will be long until we arrive “On national television, Mykhailo stated.

Details On What is Ongoing Between The Negotiation of two Countries

On Sunday, Russian and Ukrainian officials gave their most upbeat assessments of progress in their talks over Ukraine’s crisis, hinting that good outcomes may be achieved within days.

Separately, US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman stated that Russia is shown a desire to engage in real discussions to resolve a conflict in which thousands have perished. More than 2.5 million people have fled the country.

Ukraine has stated that it is open to discussion but would not submit or accept any ultimatums.

“We will not, in principle, relinquish any positions. Russia has finally realized this. Russia has already begun to engage in productive dialogue “Mykhailo Podolyak, a Ukrainian negotiator and presidential adviser, stated in a video uploaded online.

Three rounds of discussions between the two parties in Belarus, the most recently last Monday, had mostly focused on humanitarian matters and resulted in the restricted opening of certain passageways for civilians to flee combat.

On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed there had been “good changes” in the discussions, but he did not explain. The Kremlin stated on Saturday that talks between Russian and Ukrainian officials were ongoing “in video mode.”

Last Thursday’s talks between Russia’s and Ukraine’s foreign ministers yielded little visible progress toward a cease-fire, but commentators argued the fact that they were meeting at all kept a window open for the war to be ended.
