Uconn Donovan Clingan Was Taller Than His Parents When He Turned 14

Bill Clingan currently serves as an employee at a utility company providing necessary supplies to the public. He is a former basketball player with a brief stint at Southington High.

Donovan Clingan dad Bill stands at 6 feet and 5 inches. Bill is nine inches shorter than Donovan who is 7-foot-2.

After Stacey’s passing, Bill was responsible for raising his two children, Donovan and Olivia. He was devastated when his wife expired unexpectedly.

He felt lost and alone, unsure of how to move forward with his life. But he knew he had to be strong for his children, especially his son Donovan, who was beginning to make a name for himself in the basketball world.

As Donovan’s basketball career took off, Bill found himself taking on more and more responsibilities. He became Donovan’s coach, mentor, and biggest supporter, driving him to practices and games, helping him with his training, and always pushing him to be the best he could be.

At the same time, Bill had to juggle his responsibilities as a single father to his daughter Olivia. Despite the challenges, he also made sure to be there for her, attending her volleyball games and supporting her dreams just as much as his son’s.

However, after graduating, he ceased playing and focused more on coaching. Later, Bill served as the head coach of the Mount Olive Trojans men’s basketball team for 18 years.

Mr. Clingan was instrumental in the Trojans’ success, helping them win or share three conference championships. He was named the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year in 2005 for his remarkable achievement with the club.

Donovan Clingan mom Stacey Porrini Clingan was an outstanding college athlete at the University of Maine.

Stacey was 6-foot-4, an inch shorter than her husband Bill. In contrast, Donovan is way taller than both, who outstripped Bill prior to his 14th birthday.

At first, Donovan grappled with the challenge of his towering physical stature and his insufficient speed. At present, Donovan is committed to the UConn Huskies, where he wears no 32 jerseys as a reminder of his late mother Stacey.

Inspired by her athletic demeanor, Donovan continued her legacy following the same path.

Stacey was a standout basketball player at Bristol Central. She left her high school for the University of Maine in 1993, where she became a star player in NCAA divisions.

Upon graduation, Stacey returned to Bristol and commenced her career as an elementary school teacher at Greene-Hills School, where she spent most of her professional tenure.

During this period, she first met Bill, whom she would later marry in 2000.

Stacey’s struggle with cancer began in 2010 when she was diagnosed with the disease. After undergoing rigorous chemotherapy and surgery, she overcame cancer and was declared cancer-free in 2011.

However, the disease returned five years later, and Stacey fought bravely for three more years. Sadly, she lost her battle with cancer in the spring of 2018 per The New York Times.

Donovan Clingan has one sibling in the family. His younger sister Olivia is a standout volleyball player at Bristol Central High.

With tireless effort and dedication, Olivia emerged as a skilled volleyball player along with an accomplished swimmer, perpetuating and upholding her mother’s athletic legacy.

She is currently in her senior year at Bristol Central. While Donovan roamed far and wide, competing in AAU basketball games, Olivia frequently engaged in volleyball tournaments, traveling to various locations nationwide.

Olivia played 88 sets in the 2022-23 season, five more than her 2021-22 stats as a junior. Similarly, she only started in 15 sets during her sophomore year in 2020.

Since she is in her final year, it is likely this will be her last season playing varsity volleyball. Olivia has set her sights on attending Clemson University, located in the vibrant state of South Carolina, to make a name in NCAA tournaments just like her brother Donovan.

Donovan Clingan girlfriend Maddie Ross has been dating for three years. The couple started their romantic relationship in 2020.

The two romantic souls crossed paths while attending Bristol Central High School, emboldened by their mutual affection and desire for one another. They hit off immediately after, and now Donovan and Maddie entered their third year of the relationship.

Maddie played soccer during high school at Bristol Central High before joining Donovan at the University of Connecticut.

In June 2020, the NCAA basketball star dropped the first picture of the two’s on the internet. The image shows Donovan lifting Maddie on his back as he expresses his love for her is the one thing that supersedes his passion for basketball.

Then in January 2021, Donovan posted another picture as they were picking apples from a tree. It was Maddie’s 17th birthday, and he took the opportunity to offer his heartfelt wishes.

Similarly, during the summer of 2021, the couple reveled in the splendor of a sun-kissed beach on the Cape Cod peninsula in Barnstable, Massachusetts.

Furthermore, Maddie often appears in Clingan’s NCAA tournament games to cheer and shout for him throughout the match. After the final whistle, the blissful couple goes for a delectable dinner, capping off a successful evening before retiring for the night.
