People worldwide are discovering some of the most prominent musicians from the 1980s, thanks to TikTok, the newest social media platform.
It is no surprise that a number-one song from the 1980s would eventually become a famous backing track for videos generated on an app mainly driven by music, dance, and lip-synching.
Since it was first shared on TikTok in early October, a remixed version of George Michael’s legendary “Careless Whisper” has been featured in nearly 100,000 clips.
Let’s explore more about the viral TikTok song.

Over a million people have viewed some of the videos, introducing the late singer’s 1984 song to a new audience.
It didn’t take long for some curious minds to wonder who sang the catchy tune.
“Let’s just enjoy the vocalist of the song,” TikTok user @molshep wrote her video, which featured the remixed version as the soundtrack to photos of the music legend throughout his career.

“George Michael TikTok” appears to be a real thing now.
For context, the app’s algorithm works by showing users content similar to what they’ve already interacted with, so the more you watch and connect with specific hobbies, the more you’ll see those things.
The more people comment, like, and share videos featuring the Wham! Star’s name and music, the more likely that additional people will consume George Michael’s content.
Oh My Oh My TikTok Song
Cabello’s fourth single from her sophomore album, “My Oh My,” was released in January and featured DaBaby.
The earworm has been playing on loop all around the country since then. Is there, however, a more profound significance behind those catchy lyrics?
“My Oh My” feels like a perfect follow-up to Cabello’s breakout hit “Havana” upon first listen. However, in “My Oh My,” the good girl is ready to fully break bad, whereas “Havana” is about a girl getting tangled up with a bad boy.
It’s difficult not to see the parallels with Cabello howling lyrics like “I promise on my life that I’ve been a decent girl / Tonight I don’t want to be her” over a Latin-infused hip-hop beat.
Even the aforementioned “daughter” has parents concerned that she will become involved with the wrong crowd.
In “Havana,” her “papa claims he’s got malo in him,” while in “My Oh My,” it looks that “mama doesn’t trust him,” fearing that “he’s only here for one thing,” but that doesn’t matter to the singer: “I’m only here for one thing, too.”
The song has also gained a lot of success after TikTok user Charli D’Amelio went viral.
Cabello stars as a silent movie star in a film named Damsel in Distress in the (mainly) black-and-white music video for the song, which gives some insight into its meaning.
