Thomas Dickson “Tommy” Armour III (born October 8, 1959) is a professional golfer from the United States. Armour debuted on the PGA Tour in 1981, when he was 21 years old. He’s won two PGA Tour events in his career, the Phoenix Open in 1990 and the Valero Texas Open in 2003. Armour currently owns the record for greatest total 72-hole score (254), which he achieved in 2003 when he won the Valero Texas Open. Tommy Armour, a three-time major champion, is Armour’s grandfather. Armour lost his Tour card in 2006 due to injuries; he regained his card for 2008 by finishing 110th on the PGA Tour money list in 2007. He ended the year with a victory in the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational, a non-PGA Tour event where he won $60,000. He finished 62nd on the money list in 2008 to save his card for 2009, and he won the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational for the first time. In February 2010, he made his Champions Tour debut at The ACE Group Classic. Despite his Champions Tour status, Armour enrolled in PGA Tour Q School in 2011. He was the oldest player on the field at 52 years old. Armour subsequently dropped out of the competition.
