Tim Lobinger was able to overcome a number of obstacles in his life. The former Olympic athlete has recently succumbed to cancer, though. The age of Lobinger’s passing was 50.
Tim Lobinger’s battle with cancer is now over. The former world-class pole vaulter passed away at the age of 50, as was initially reported by “Die Rheinische Post.” He left a daughter, two kids, and a granddaughter in his wake.
Tim Lobinger, who competed as a pole vaulter, was a model professional athlete during his active career and could confidently be used as a synonym for the phrase model athlete. He cemented his place in history with several victories at athletics stadiums and arenas around the globe.
The 2003 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and the 1998 European Indoor Championships in Valencia rank first and second, respectively. Lobinger finished the world and European championships with a total of five medals. At four Olympic Games, he represented Germany in uniform.
Yet, his leap above the fabled six-meter mark, which separates elite athletes from the rest in his field, is likely his most noteworthy sporting accomplishment. Nobody else in Germany had ever accomplished that. Lobinger succeeded twice. He was occasionally referred to as a diva, always seemed self-assured in competitions, and not only won friends with his unusual personality.
After winning in Monaco in 2003, Lobinger had to formally apologize to the global association for showing the cameras his naked bottom. Despite this, he became a role model for many young sportsmen thanks to his distinguishing features, including long hair and unusual (sunglasses) glasses.
