Tiffani Faison (born August 20, 1977 in Germany) is an American chef who was a contestant on the first season of Bravo’s reality television programme Top Chef. She was one of two finalists on the first season of Top Chef. Harold Dieterle beat her to the finish line in second place. Faison was born in Germany to American parents and reared as a “army brat” in a variety of locations across the United States, including Boston, Massachusetts, and Northern California. In 2001, she worked as a bartender at Lucky’s Lounge for a short period of time before taking a position as the Backlot’s Food and Beverage Director at the Ritz Carlton Boston Common, where she was fired after just a few months. She received her culinary training at the Cambridge Culinary Institute. {2002,2003} In 2001, she worked as a busser at Todd English’s Bonfire, which is located in Boston. In 2003, she worked at Perdix, which was located on Tremont Street in Boston’s South End. Earlier in the year, Perdix was named one of Boston’s culinary “gems” for its upscale ambiance. Chef Faison served as a chef de partie under Daniel Boulud at his trademark Michelin Star restaurant at the Wynn Las Vegas before competing on Top Chef. 

He also worked at the Tao restaurant in The Venetian Las Vegas, which is also located in the same city. The next month, Faison began working as a summer cook at the Straight Wharf restaurant on Nantucket, Massachusetts, where he worked under the direction of chefs Amanda Lydon and Gabriel Frasca. Faison was crowned the winner of Top Chef in May 2006. As senior chef at Todd English’s restaurant Riche in New Orleans (Louisiana), she was recognised for her accomplishments. In May 2007, Faison collaborated with Olivia, a lesbian lifestyle and travel services business, to organise a gourmet cruise around the Greek Islands. Faison competed in a one-episode culinary competition called 4 Star All Stars, in which four Top Chef season one competitors (Stephen Asprinio, Dieterle, Faison, and David Martin) competed against four Top Chef season two candidates (Stephen Asprinio, Dieterle, and Faison) (Elia Aboumrad, Ilan Hall, Sam Talbot and Marcel Vigneron). 

Faison’s team was awarded the winning meal and a $20,000 contribution to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation in recognition of their efforts. Bravo broadcasted this episode on June 6, 2007, at 8:00 p.m. Faison also competed in the Top Chef Holiday Special, which aired on December 7, 2007, and took home the $20,000 first-place award. Formerly back in Boston, Faison took on the role of Executive Chef at Rocca Kitchen & Bar (500 Harrison Avenue), which was once a popular neighbourhood hangout on Friday evenings until it shuttered in December 2010. During the eighth season of Top Chef, Faison returned as a competitor, but was ousted in the sixth episode of the season. In the Top Chef Duels 2014 tournament, Faison came in second place behind winner Anthony Bourdain. At the moment, Faison is the owner and head chef of Sweet Cheeks Q, a Texas-style barbecue restaurant located in Boston’s Fenway neighbourhood. Her first restaurant, which opened in the fall of 2011, is her first venture.
