The Umbrella Academy debuted in 2019, and the circumstances surrounding Ben Hargreeves’ death generated heated debate among fans. Season three of the show may have thrown some light on the matter.

What Is Umbrella Academy Jennifer Incident?
In season 3, the Umbrella Academy refers to Ben Hargreeves’ death as the “Jennifer incident.”
Luther used the expression in “You died too soon, Marigold,” says Sparrow Ben. Jennifer’s incident…”
Klaus later makes a similarly vague “Jennifer incident” remark in a later episode, but the true juicy details emerge when Viktor seeks safety in Sparrow Ben’s bedroom after a harsh argument with Allison.
An emotional Viktor searches Ben’s room for the desk and walls covered with drawings of a certain girl designated “Jennifer.”
This scene reveals Ben knew Jennifer in both the Umbrella and Sparrow universes but it may also reveal how Ben died.

Ben’s Death Theory On Reddit
There are many perspective on Ben’s Death Theory on Reddit.
ShouldBeZZZ, a user, does not care how Ben dies, but the user believes it would be intriguing if it was suicide. That would make the quote on Ben’s statue, “May you find light in your darkness,” a lot more powerful.
The Jennifer Incident idea accords with The Umbrella Academy’s two Bens’ striking personality differences.
The old Sparrow Ben was a selfless and gentle person who would always give his life for a loved one, whereas Sparrow Ben is more cutthroat, obsessed with achievement and notoriety.
It’s reasonable to be unhappy that The Umbrella Academy season 3 doesn’t fully reveal the mystery surrounding Ben’s death, but keeping spectators guessing is the better option.
