Early life and education
Coi was raised in New Jersey alongside her brothers Kwame and Taj by their father while she and Benzino have kept the details of her mother a secret – her father dated Althea Heart in the mid-2015 and they were also engaged, but split not long after the birth of their son.
Motivated by her father, Coi became interested in music at a very early age. She often kept Benzino company in his recording studio, and practiced her own rapping skills in front of her bedroom mirror. Coi attended a local high school, but because she was more focused on singing than on her education, she quit school at the age of 16.
Career as a singer
Her debut single “G.A.N.” came out in December 2017, and was followed by her second single “Pac Girl” – the music videos for the songs were released in January and May 2018 respectively.
She spent early 2018 working on her first mixtape, “EverythingcoZ” which came out in March 2018, and featured singles such as “Get It”, “GoldRush” and “No Letting Up” – many popular rappers were featured in the mixtape such as Sule, MartianOnTheBeat and Gu Mitch. Her following single “No Longer Mine” came out in September 2018, and by the end of the year, Coi had released “Huddy” under Republic Records.
She released her second mixtape “EC2” in January 2019, featuring songs “Good Day”, “Big Dawgs” and “Huddy” – from 26 January 2020 to 28 February 2020, Coi toured around the US performing in over 15 cities.
She has been featured in songs of various other rappers, such as “Come Home” sang by Tatted Swerve and “Games” sang by K Dos.
Love life and relationships
Coi has only been in a single relationship that the public knows about – in 2019, she started dating Trippie Redd, but they broke up by the end of the year for unknown reasons. Most of Coi’s fans have condemned her decision to leave Trippie, as they see him as a man who is a celebrity, has lots of money, and was nice to her.
Trippie is a rapper, singer and songwriter, who has released two studio albums both of which ranked among the top five on the Billboard 200 Chart, while his fourth and latest mixtape “A Love Letter to You 4” ranked #1 on the chart – his net worth has been estimated at close to $10 million.
Coi has been staying away from the media’s attention since her and Trippie’s break-up, and as of October 2020, she is single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
Coi is a fan of tattoos and has several – there is a big cross tattooed on her chest, and there’s also a butterfly on her arm.
While attending high school, Coi mostly listened to Rihanna and Chris Brown but has since switched to Rich the Kid and Chief Keef.
She is a lover of animals, but doesn’t have a pet due to a lack time to take proper care of it.
Coi likes to travel, and has been to several US states for both work and pleasure, while she’s had an opportunity to travel overseas as well, visiting London in England and Paris in France.
In her free time Coi likes to watch movies, and her favorite actor and actress are Leonardo DiCaprio and Emma Watson, while a few of her favorite movies are “Titanic”, “Inception” and the franchise “Harry Potter”.
