The Untold Truth Of Alicia Keys’ Son- Egypt Daoud Dean

Egypt Daoud Dean is the elder son of multi-millionaire performers Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz. Egypt is the fourth child for his father, and first for his mother. Despite his young age, he has already tried himself as a rapper.

Early life and family

Egypt Daoud Dean was born on 14 October 2010, in New York City, USA, so his zodiac sign is Libra, and he holds American nationality. Egypt is of Puerto Rican, Jamaican and Afro-American descent; his younger brother, Genesis Ali Dean, was born in 2014. Egypt also has three half-siblings from his dad’s previous affairs – Prince Nasir Dean (2000), Kasseem Dean Jr. (2006), and Nicole Dean born in March 2008.

Egypt’s parents met each other when they were teenagers and only starting to develop their music careers. Alicia once shared in her interview to Marie Claire UK, that the first time she met Swizz, she was not impressed by him, as she thought he behaved too ostentatiously. At those times many rappers and hip-hoppers collaborated together, but Alicia refused to record a single with Swizz, escaping all the opportunities. However, when they met again at the end of 2008, their attitude to each other changed a lot, and they started dating. It all happened in one year of 2010: Alicia and Swizz became engaged in May 2010, right after his quick divorce from his wife, singer Mashonda Tifrere, then married in July 2010, and she gave birth to Egypt in October.

Egypt spent his childhood in New York, living in luxurious apartments with his parents.

Mother, Alicia Keys

Egypt’s mother, Alicia Augello-Cook, was born on 25 January 1981, in Manhattan, New York USA. Her childhood lacked her father’s attention, as Craig Cook was out of her mother’s life even before she was born, leaving his wife with three kids in her arms. However, Alicia knows that he was of Jamaican descent; her mother, Teresa Augello, is of Italian descent. Alicia has always been interested in performing and singing; while in preschool, she landed the role of Dorothy Gale in the school’s production “The Wizard of Oz”, and at the age of six she discovered her passion for playing the piano.

Aged 12, Alicia enrolled at the Professional Performing Arts School, and then started studying jazz at the age of 14. Alicia recorded her first studio “Songs in A Minor” in 2001, and it instantly raced to the top of various charts. Her second album “The Diary of Alicia Keys” (2003) was also very successful, after which she took a break from recording, as she experienced some difficulties with the relationship with her then-boyfriend, Kerry Brothers Jr. The couple broke up in 2008 after Alicia released her third album “As I Am”. All in all, Alicia has recorded seven studio albums – her latest work “Alicia” (2020) is now conquering the charts, while the R&B singer is preparing for her world tour.

Alicia Keys’ accomplishments and awards

Egypt’s mother did her best to win as many awards as she possibly could, actually 15 Grammy Awards from 2002 to 2015, being nominated around 30 times. The list of her awards also includes victories in MTV Europe Music Awards, NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Image Awards, Soul Train Music Awards, and many others.

Alicia Keys also tried herself as an actress, appearing in various series such as “Charmed”, “Def Poetry Jam”, “The Backyardigans”, etc. She produced the film “Let Me In” in 2008, as well as “Hustle” in 2019. Alicia was invited as a mentor in Season 7 of “The Voice” in the US, also working as a guest mentor in various music shows, such as “The X Factor”, etc. In 2016 Alicia became a coach on “The Voice” for Seasons 11, 12 and 14, replacing Christina Aguilera.

Father, Swizz Beatz

Kasseem Dean, who is mostly known as Swizz Beatz, was born on 13 September 1978, in the North East Bronx, New York City USA. From early childhood he had a passion for music, as his stepfather and uncles were musicians or DJs. When he was around 14 years old, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, but couldn’t get used to his new school, Harry S. Truman High School, so he quit to start working at Ruff Ryders recording label, founded by two of his uncles, Darrin “Dee” Dean and Joaquin “Waah” Dean, and his aunt, Chivon Dean. Inspired by such talented performers as DMX, Eve and many others, Swizz decided to launch his own music career.

Starting from 1998, Swizz made guest appearances in such singles as “Keep Your S*** the Hardest” by DMX, “Move Right Now” by Drag-On, and “If You Know” by The LOX.

He continued collaborations with major rap stars, releasing his first single “Guilty” in 2002. After this success, Swizz was featured in more than 30 singles of other performers, as well as recording more than 20 of his own. In 2011 Swizz won the Grammy Award in the category Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for his single “On to the Next One” featuring Jay-Z. In 2017 he was nominated in three categories of Grammy Awards as a songwriter for his tracks “Famous” and “Ultralight Beam” (both performed by Kanye West), but didn’t manage to win any.

Younger brother, Genesis Ali Dean

Egypt’s younger brother, Genesis Ali Dean, was born on 27 December 2014. According to the photos Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz post on their Instagram accounts, the brothers spend a lot of time together, playing and walking in the backyard of their house.

Educational background

Egypt is studying in his secondary school in New York, as of 2020.

Career

Despite his young age, Egypt has a true passion for music. He collaborated with Kendrick Lamar, working on his album “untitled unmastered” in 2013, acting as a co-producer for the track “untitled 07”. While the album was recorded from 2013 to 2014, the final version was released only in 2016, but it instantly became a hit.

Egypt’s father, Swizz Beatz, was in the list of the album’s producers, as well as Frank Dukes, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Ritz Reynolds. After this successful collaboration, Egypt started working with Q-Tip, also known as Kamaal Ibn John Fareed, following which he entered the studio with rap legend Q-Tip.

Hobbies, favorite things and interesting facts

Egypt’s parents wrote the song dedicated to their first son – entitled “Speechless” it was performed by Alicia Keys and her long-term fellow singer Eve in 2011. Even though Egypt’s father divorced his first wife, Mashonda, two years before Egypt was even born, the latter has close relationship with Mashonda. Another interesting fact about the relationship between Swizz and Mashonda is that together with Alicia Keys all three co-wrote the book “Blend: The Secret to Co-Parenting and Creating a Balanced Family” in 2018.

Appearance, clothing style

Egypt has naturally curly dark-brown hair and brown eyes. His height, weight and vital statistics are not available at the moment. As to his clothing style, he prefers sporty looks, just as his father.

Net worth and salary

Egypt is too young to accumulate a net worth of his own, even though he already has some working experience. However, he is now fully supported by his parents; Egypt’s mom, Alicia Keys, is reported to have a net worth of over $100 million, and his dad, Swizz Beatz, also reputedly has a net worth of $100 million as of early 2020.
