The Playing Card Killer Alfredo Galán Wife: Is Spanish Serial Killer Married?

The Playing Card killer Alfredo Galán is believed to be unmarried. His marriage and love life aren’t highlighted much in the media.

The killer was a subject of neurosis and anxiety. So, he was kind of reserved and introverted and loved spending time with himself.

As a result, we can assume that the murderer of the playing cards was not particularly interested in romantic relationships.

Galán was also the high school class president, yet his classmates described him as bland and reserved.

At the age of 20, Alfredo enrolled in the Spanish Army in September 1998, rose to the rank of corporal in the Alcalá de Henares Parachute Regiment, and took part in humanitarian missions in Bosnia. Amid the Prestige oil leak, he was ordered back to Spain.

Galán was admitted to the Gómez Ulla Military Hospital in Madrid after stealing a vehicle. Despite having neurosis and anxiety diagnoses, he persisted in drinking.

After he left the hospital, the playing card killer started working as a security guard at Madrid-Barajas Airport in March 2003.

Why Is Alfredo Galán Called The Playing Card Killer?

In early 2003, at the age of 26, Galán started a savage killing rampage that lasted for about two months.

On January 24, 2003, he shot 50-year-old Juan Francisco Ledesma in the head in front of his two-year-old son, committing his first crime. He left a playing card, the ace of cups, after the murder.

He again shot a man in the head shortly after on February 5. Juan Estacio, a 28-year-old airport employee, was his second victim. He left an ace of clubs by the body once more.

The serial killer shot 27-year-old Santiago Eduardo Salas in the face, intending for him to be his third victim. However, Salas survived, and Salas’ friend Anahid Castillo Ruperti managed to flee.

Again, he left a playing card beside the crime scene, thinking he had killed Salas.

The then 26-year-old murderer turned himself into authorities in July 2003 and admitted to being The Playing Card Killer.

He had concealed the pistol inside a television and smuggled it into Spain. He carried the Tokarev TT-33 gun to Spain from Bosnia as a soldier.

It’s believed that after finding a playing card close to one of his victims’ bodies made news in the media so he started putting playing cards by the bodies of his victims.

Anomalies In The Playing Card Killer Alfredo Galán Confession

There were many anomalies surrounding the killer Alfredo’s confession.

He changed his original story before the court in charge of the investigation in September 2003, saying he only confessed because a neo-nazi had threatened to kill his sisters if he did not accept responsibility for the killings.

He added that the same gang of neo-nazis had purchased the pistol before the murder. The judge, however, did not take this into consideration.

After being found guilty of six killings and three attempted homicides, the serial murderer was sentenced to 142 years and three months. He is still serving this sentence in prison in Spain today.
