KICK-ASSAS 2 is a 2013 superhero action comedy film directed by Mark Millar and written by John Romita, Jr. and based on the comic book of the same name as well as Hit-Girl, both by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. It is a sequel to the 2010 film KICK-ASSAS and the second instalment of the Kick-ASSAS movie series. This sequel to Jeff Wadlow’s original was written, directed, and co-produced by Matthew Vaughn, who had previously worked as a director on the first film.

Dave Lizewski, Chris D’Amico, and Mindy Macready are all played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Chlo Grace Moretz, who all reprised their roles from the previous film in this sequel. Originally released on August 14, 2013, the film was released on August 16, 2013, in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and on August 14, 2013, in the United States and Canada. The picture was produced by Matthew Vaughn’s production firm, Marv Films, in collaboration with Universal Pictures.

The film was a financial success at the box office, earning more than twice its budget, although it fell short of outperforming the previous picture. The film also got poor reviews, with several critics expressing dissatisfaction with the pace, the high amount of violence, and the coarse comedy. Despite the fact that the sequel did not get anything like the amount of critical praise that the original film did, audiences reacted far more favourably to it than reviewers did.
