Colin Campbell is a scientist from the United States who specialises in the relationship between diet and long-term health. He is the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University, where he has worked for more than 40 years. In recent years, Campbell has gained prominence for his promotion of a low-fat, whole-foods-based vegan (plant-based) diet.

 Among his many publications are more than 300 research articles on the topic and two books, Whole (2013) and The China Study (2005, co-authored with his son), which was one of the best-selling nutrition books in the United States for a time. Campbell was featured in the 2011 documentary Forks Over Knives, which was produced in the United States. 

For more than two decades, Campbell served as a key member of the Cornell University–Oxford–Cornell study on diet and disease, which was established in 1983 by the universities of Cornell, Oxford, and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine to investigate the relationship between nutrition and cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic diseases. “The Grand Prix of epidemiology,” according to The New York Times, was won by the researchers in this study.
