Susan Flannery Career

Flannery is best known for her role as Dr. Laura Spencer Horton on Days of Our Lives from 1966 to 1975, where she met writer William J. Bell (who later cast her in The Bold and the Beautiful in 1987). She appeared in several feature films, including The Towering Inferno (1974) and The Gumball Rally (1975). (1976).

She also appeared in the primetime television series Dallas as Leslie Stewart during season four (1980–1981), and in the 1976 NBC miniseries The Moneychangers as part of an ensemble cast with Kirk Douglas and Christopher Plummer.

Flannery rose to prominence as Stephanie Douglas Forrester on the American soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful (1987–2012). She was one of the original cast members of the show, of which only two remain (Katherine Kelly Lang and John McCook).

Flannery was also a regular director on the show, for which she was nominated twice for a Directors Guild of America Award. In 2012, she decided to leave the show after 25 years. Stephanie Forrester died as a result of lung cancer in her final storyline.

Flannery co-starred with other well-known actors from rival soaps in two episodes of ABC’s situation comedy Hope & Faith in 2004. Flannery was also a special guest on Good News Week. In 2006, she appeared on a special episode of Wheel of Fortune alongside Deidre Hall (Marlena, Days of Our Lives) and Peter Bergman (Jack, The Young and the Restless).

Flannery also directed the episode of Guiding Light that aired on October 13, 2008. In 2010, Flannery ranked first in the Top 50 Soap Actresses of All Time poll on the internet blog We Love Soaps.
