Stephen Owen (politician) cause of death
Following several years of dementia, Mr. Owen passed away on Wednesday at Vancouver’s Point Grey Private Hospital.
In his capacity as federal minister of public works, Mr. Owen established the Gomery Commission to look into the Liberal sponsorship controversy; its findings ultimately turned out to be harmful to the party. In 1992, he was given control of the CORE commission by Mike Harcourt, the NDP’s premier at the time.
