Karl Wlaschek net worth: Karl Wlaschek is the founder of the Austrian supermarket chain Billa who has a net worth of $4.8 billion. In 1996, Karl Wlaschek sold his retail chain to the German REWE Group for around $1 billion. Ever since, he has made heavy investments in prime real estate and thus became one of the biggest private real estate owners in the country. Among other properties, his real estate company called Amisola bought one of the top-drawer hotels in Austria, the Schlosshotel Velden at the Worther See in Carinthia. This hotel had more worth in Wlaschek’s eyes because he had an emotional connection to the place: In the early 1950s, when he was a poor musician, he and his band played at the hotel for two seasons. At the time, he was a jazz pianist whose stage name was Charlie Walker. Unfortunately, the hotel has suffered significant losses in recent years due to mismanagement. More details about his incredible life story, can be found in his authorized biography titled “Karl Wlaschek: A Success Story.” Apart from being one of the richest Austrians residing in Vienna, he is widowed and has two children.
