Sonny Dichiara’s Journey as Auburn’s First Baseman
Sonny Dichara transferred as Auburn’s first baseman from Samford University during his senior year.
The Alabama native attended Hoover High School, where he also marked his baseball career. In fact, he was even named the 2018 Co-Baseball Player of the Year by the Over the Mountain Journal.
Eventually, Samford University approached the budding star to join their team. During his freshman year in 2019, Sonny started all of his 55 games and was named SoCon Freshman of the Year. He finished with 58 hits and a batting average of .293.
Though the games were disturbed by COVID-19 in 2020, Dichara still showed the same energy. He finished 15 games with a batting average of .328 and two home runs. Similarly, his 2021 season ended with .273 batting average and nine doubles.
However, Sonny joined Auburn in 2022 to start a new prospect, where he is showcasing the same energy as Samford.

His father, Mike, was a former baseball catcher at UAB. Similarly his mother, Lara, also studied at Auburn University.
