A close friend of one of Thailand’s best-known actors, Sombat Metanee, revealed he died peacefully in his sleep today. At the age of 85, Sombat Metanee passed away today. His reason for death was kept a secret.
Sombat Metanee, a Thai actor and director who was born on 26 June 1937 and died on 18 August 2022, was honored as a national artist in the performing arts category in 2016.
In Guinness World Records, he has held the record for the most film roles (more than 600). More than 2,000 films and television shows, including lakorns, were produced by him.
When his career was at its height in the 1960s and 1970s, he frequently played the lead role in action films, romances, dramas, comedies, and musicals. He kept acting in Thai movies and TV shows and frequently made appearances on talk shows and on-screen commercials.
Two of his latter films include The Legend of Suriyothai and Tears of the Black Tiger. He graduated from Petchaburi Rajabhat with a bachelor’s in business administration, Eastern Asia University with a master’s in political science, and the same university with a Ph.D. in political science.
