Sister Act to be performed on stage for His Highness
The smash musical comedy Sister Act, based on the beloved 1992 movie, has audiences on their feet! This uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and has original music by Tony and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors).
Deloris Van Cartier, a disco diva, is taken into protective custody after witnessing a murder, and the police place her in a convent because they know she won’t be found there. She finds herself at odds with the strict lifestyle and strict Mother Superior while posing as a nun.
Deloris breathes new life into the church and community using her distinctive disco moves and singing ability to motivate the choir, but in doing so, she blows her cover. The gang soon gives chase, only to run into Deloris and the strength of her recently discovered sisterhood.
Sister Act will leave spectators in awe with its stirring story, spectacular dancing, and intense gospel music. This is a fantastic choice for community theaters and high schools because of the cast’s abundance of wonderful roles for women of all ages.
This one is a brilliant homage to the enduring power of friendship and a cause for celebration!
