Sheldon Souray started his professional career with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Fort Saskatchewan Traders. In 1994, he was selected as a third round pick by the New Jersey Devils in the NHL Draft.
He debuted to the Devils during the 1997-1998 season, as Souray finished his rookie year with 3 goals, 10 points for 60 games. He was known for being a physical defender, and doing a hard shot in every game he did for the team.
When Montreal Canadiens acquired him to play in 2000, Souray was able to play but injuries prevented him from appearing during the 2002-2003 season. In 2007, he became an unrestricted free agent and was traded to Edmonton Oilers.
Souray had a brief stint at Dallas Stars in 2012 and signed a three-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks.
