Emcee and entrepreneur Shammi Narang is most known for improving the quality of newscasting in India. Shammi is a voice-over artist, former news anchor, and emcee who is located in Delhi. Narang graduated with an engineering degree and began his voice-over career by working in the Hindi section of Voice of America after completing his undergraduate studies. A few years later, he was chosen from among 100,000 applicants for Doordarshan, which was at the time the sole television station in India, and he rose to prominence as the “face of Doordarshan news reading,” as well as Indian television in general, from the 1970s to the 1980s. Sikhs all around the world have embraced his rendition of Sarab Sanjhi Gurbani, which has become the worldwide Sikh voice. After the introduction of satellite television, which resulted in a decrease in the TRP ratings of Doordarshan, Narang resigned from his position and began teaching young and blossoming news anchors, journalists, voice-over artists, and emcees in his place. Even now, the country’s most prominent newscasters continue to hold him in high regard, with many of them having received personal training from Narang. This means that Narang’s voice will be heard by millions of people on a daily basis in the Hindi in-train and in-station announcements of the Delhi Metro, Rapid MetroRail Gurgaon, Mumbai Metro, Bangalore Metro, and the forthcoming Hyderabad Metro Rail and Jaipur Metro. Aside from that, Narang is the Managing Director of the well-known Delhi-based Diversified Media solutions company – Studio Pindrop – which is involved in the production of corporate films and the provision of corporate audio solutions as well as the management of corporate events, as well as the creation of issue-based documentaries and infotainment packages for children.
