Sello Maake Biography

Sello Maake whose full names are Sello Maake Ka-Ncube was born on 12th March 1960 in Orlando, Soweto in South Africa. He is an actor and a voice over artist.He is popularly known for his lead role on Scandal where he acted as Lucas ‘Daniel’ Nyathi.

  • He played a major role in Generations where he played the role of a rich businessman named Archie Moroka but he later left the show when he decided to pursue his career abroad.

  • He plays the role of Kgositsile on the Mzansi Magic Telenovela Queen, where he plays being gay.

Sello Maake Social Action

In August 2012 joined the Television Industry Emergency Coalition (TIEC) in a 30 day hunger strike to protest SABC’s decision to cut local content. He criticized the ANC government saying that he believed the South African culture was better protected during the apartheid days. He has blamed the government for allowing SABC to cut coverage for local content unopposed in recent years. He called for more local music content, a youth radio station and more local content on television stations that would be relevant to the youths.

He is a father of six children but he lost his eldest child in an accident. The other five are Neo Tsagae, Lerato, Lindo, Onkgopotse and Akhona.

Sello Maake Son’s death

In April 2011 they were involved in accident i which the carthey were travelling in lost control near the Xavier Street off- ramp on the M1 Highway in South Africa. The car hit two poles that were along the road and unfortunately his son (Mxolisi Maake Ka-Cube) died.

Sello Maake wife and Divorce

He married Palesa Mboweni in 2013 but the marriage only lasted for 8 months. He claimed that Palesa was disrespectful, uncooperative and ater exhibited psychotic behaviour.
