A native of New York, Sarah Jane Hyland was born on November 24, 1990 to Melissa Canaday (acting teacher) and Edward James Hyland (theater and film actor). The actress of white ethnicity was exposed to the entertainment industry at an early age, not only taking theater tours with her father, but also enrolling in dance and singing training classes before she was a teenager.
