Sarah Huckabee Sanders has become the voice and face of the Trump Administration alongside Kellyanne Conway. Quite literally. Under Trump, she has served as White House press secretary since July 2017. And there are very few people on the US political scene who have been as controversial as Sanders (maybe Trump, we’ll give it to you).
The frustrated figure of Sanders in constant confrontation with the “fake news media” has become the tableau of recent White House briefings. She is quite a polarizing figure. On the one hand, supporters of President Trump praise her. She defends the president and rebukes the mainstream media. On the other hand, critics of Trump will argue that she fabricates lies on behalf of the administration. The recent Muller Report and the reported “false statements” scandal are certainly not doing you any favors.
Let’s dig deeper to find out if Sarah Sander’s life has always been a roller coaster or not.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders: biography, family and education
Sarah Sanders was born Sarah Elizabeth Huckabee on August 13, 1983, in Hope, Arkansas. She is the daughter of renowned politician Mike Huckabee. She served as Governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. Her mother is Janet McCain Huckabee. She was the youngest of her siblings. Her two older brothers were named David Huckabee and John Mark Huckabee.
Sanders attended Little Rock Central High School in his home state. He also did his bachelor’s degree in Arkansas. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Ouachita Baptist University, majoring in political science. Sanders also has a specialization in mass communications.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders: career and achievements
Sander’s interest in politics is not new. Even at school, he was an officer of the Republican Federation of Teenagers. And she went one step further in college and became the leader of the student senate. Her father says that in her childhood, when other children played games or watched cartoons, Sarah Sanders learned about survey data.
Sanders became heavily involved in his father’s Senate campaign in 1992. He did so again for his 2002 reelection campaign. He also ran and managed Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2016. After his father’s failed bid, he joined Team Trump as a senior adviser in 2016.
Similarly, he has also served under Republican President George W. Bush. There, he worked as a regional liaison for the US Department of Education. Sanders has also worked for many other Republican politicians, including Senators Tom Cotton and John Boozman, as well as Governor Tim Pawlenty.
