The Indian actress, trained contemporary and ballet dancer Sanya Malhotra is well known for portraying the role of Babita Kumari in a 2016 sports biopic film Dangal.
Born February 25, 1992, in Delhi, India, Malhotra studied and graduated from Gargi College–Delhi University.
After her graduation, Malhotra competed in the dance reality show Dance India Dance in 2009 but was rejected because her backstory wasn’t strong.
In 2016, she starred in an Indian Hindi-language biographical sports drama film Dangal which was directed by Nitesh Tiwari as Babita Kumari which she won the 2018 Jackie Chan Action Movie Awards for Best New Action Performer.
As an actress, Malhotra has starred in over 14 movies including Pataakha (2018), Photograph (2019), Shakuntala Devi (2020), Pagglait (2021), and Love Hostel (2022).
Besides acting, Malhotra choreographed for the song ‘Sexy Baliye’ in Secret Superstar in 2017.
