Meteorologist Roy Leep passed away on 1 June 2021, as per the online obituaries. The actual cause of his death is aging.
Roy Leep was a celebrated meteorologist. He worked on a local network, WTVT, for 40 years and contributed a lot.
Leep was also promoted to chief meteorologist in 1959 and was one of the pioneers of Fox 13 weather forecast.
He was also the first man to detect storms with the use of radar.

After high school, he volunteered at a local weather station. To be accurate, he was already in love with the weather and its movements.
Thus, Leep enrolled in the Florida State University and studied broadcast journalism.
Meanwhile, he also worked as a weather broadcaster for a radio channel.
Roy was heard by someone from Tampa. The next day, he was invited for an interview at WTVT.
Recognizing his potential, the channel immediately hired him in 1957.
Two years later, Leep was promoted as the chief meteorologist. At that time, the forecasting system was not computerized.
Thus, he used to draw maps and fill them with pointers.
Even at such a difficult time, Roy followed his passion and provided people with as accurate results as possible.
He retired from the channel after four decades of service on 26 November 1997.

Roy Leep is survived by a gorgeous wife, Jane.
Furthermore, The couple met in the late 1940s at the teen dance in Louisville, Kentucky.
He fell in love with Jane at a first glance. As a date, Leep brought her to a weather station where he volunteered.
Unfortunately, they split because Roy moved to Florida for education. In the early 1990s, Jane found him via TV and caught up over launch.
But both were married to someone else. Years later, Leep was divorced, and Jane’s husband died.
