Rod Wilson NFL Contract And Salary

Since Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning retired following a Super Bowl-winning 2015 season, the Broncos have been without continuity at quarterback. That’s why they signed Russell Wilson in March of last year.

Rod Wilson’s NFL Contract And Salary

The Seahawks received many players (quarterback Drew Lock, defensive lineman Shelby Harris, tight end Noah Fant), first and second-round picks in 2022 and 2023, second and fifth-round picks in 2022, a pick for Wilson in the fifth round of 2022, and a fourth-round pick in 2022.

Due to the two current contract years, Wilson’s $49 million per year extension goes until the 2028 season. He is committed to a seven-year, $296 million deal in total. The $165 million in guarantees in the agreement, of which $124 million was fully guaranteed at signing, is the second-highest total ever for an NFL contract.

The $50 million signing bonus is included in the $124 million fully guaranteed at signing and is prorated based on the salary cap of $10 million per year from 2022 to 2026.

Two option bonuses are a part of Wilson’s contract. One of the more intricate clauses in NFL contracts is the infrequently used double option bonus.

If a $20 million payment is made to exercise an option for his 2027 contract year valued at $45 million, Wilson’s fully guaranteed $28 million 2023 base salary will drop to $8 million. The period from the first day of the 2023 league year (March 15) until the fifth day of the 2023 league year is the exercise period for this option (March 19).
