A father and daughter from Evans were murdered when their motorcycle collided with a pickup truck.
When the incident happened on northbound Colorado Boulevard near Pine Cone Avenue, Michael Scott Sluman, 54, and his 24-year-old daughter Riley Mae Sluman were ejected off the bike.
Riley Mae was pronounced dead at the spot, while the elder Sluman died shortly afterward at a nearby hospital.
According to police reports, neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a helmet. The Frederick Police Department is still investigating the accident.
Who Was Riley Sluman?
Riley Sluman was born in Louisville, Colorado on June 20, 1997, to Michael “Scottie” Sluman and Toni Dawe.
She grew up in Lafayette and attended Centaurus High School, where she graduated in 2015. Huxley, son, her pride and delight, entered her life in 2018.
That sparked a friendship as strong as the one she shared with her father. Riley has a strong attachment to her family. From a distance, her affection for her father, Scottie, was evident.
She also had a huge love for her older brother, Justin. Her mother referred to them as her Gemini Twins, as they were born five years apart on June 20th. Riley thought it was fantastic that they shared on that particular day.
Riley had a lovely voice and knew the words to any song she liked after just hearing it once. She adored live music and never missed a show by one of her favorite bands.
Furthermore, Riley’s heart was big, even beneath the harsh wild side she showed, and she will be sorely missed by so many.
