Rico Lewis’ parents are proud of their footballer son. His father, Rick Lewis, owns a gym and always helped him work out growing up.
The 17-year-old Manchester City right-back earned his Champions League debut in the club’s 3-1 win over Sevilla. Even better, with his team behind him, he scored a perfect finish to bring his side up to speed—and a new star was born.
Similarly, he joined City when he was eight years old, made his under-18s debut when he was 15, captained the young team last season, and has represented England at the youth level.
That testifies to his maturity and intelligence, triggering something in Guardiola this summer.
Moreover, he is younger than the academy prospects who debuted the previous campaign, which explains why he was ineligible to play against Wycombe Wanderers in the League Cup.
