Then, though the Houston Rockets he debuted his professional career. The Houston Rockets signed No. 1 overall selection Sampson to a six-year, $14.4 million contract.

At that time, he was the highest-paid rookie in the country, and NBA’s third highest-paid player. However, in 1989 Golden State Warriors traded Sampson and backup guard Steve Harris in exchange for All-Stars Sleepy Floyd and Joe Barry Carroll.

From 1987 to 1989, he was a member of the Golden State Warriors.

How Rich Is Ralph Sampson?

Ralph Sampson, a former basketball player is one of the richest players of his time.

Sampson, a 7-foot-4 wonder, three-time College Player of the Year, and the first pick in the 1983 NBA draft, arrived in the league with high expectations (NBA) and meet all those expectations.

Based on his lifestyle, we may assume he lives a peaceful, tranquil, and happy life. He is living the good life as a former player.

Similarly, his ex-wife is well-paid. His ex-wife Aleize makes over $174,999 per year and has a net worth of more than $499,999, according to reports.

Aside from that, he is clearly living a very good life now that he has the support of his children and they are all doing well. His two boys play basketball, his elder daughter works at ESPN, and his younger daughter helps her father.

His first son, Ralph Lee Sampson III, played NCAA basketball at the University of Minnesota. His second son, Robert Alan Sampson, moved to Georgia Tech following three seasons of NCAA basketball at East Carolina University (2010–2013).

Ralph Sampson Career Earnings And Salary

Ralph Sampson’s career earnings were $17 million according to the Washingtonpost.

However, his professional career was cut short by injuries, and Sampson sank into obscurity. After leaving the NBA, he had many of the same financial and personal issues that other former sportsmen do.

Sampson, who has eight children from five different women, has been hauled to court twice for nonpayment of child support. In 2007, he pled guilty in a related case involving mail fraud and served two months in prison.

His circumstances, though, appear to have improved recently. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame and employed by the Suns last year.

Some consider Sampson to be one of the best basketball players of all time. Others believe he is one of the sport’s worst blunders. Either way, there’s plenty of proof.

Sampson lived up to expectations. He was remarkably athletic for his stature, and he possessed abilities not commonly found in centers, such as the ability to dribble in the open court and shoot long jump shots.

Sampson’s high school coach “allowed me do certain stuff on the floor that normally 7-foot players don’t do,” he claimed.

Sampson was one of college basketball’s most accomplished players. He was a three-time Naismith collegiate player of the year, a distinction shared only by UCLA’s Bill Walton, and no other player has earned it more than thrice.

Sampson is the only man to have won the Wooden Award twice. Only N.C. State’s David Thompson has won three ACC Player of the Year awards. Wake Forest’s Tim Duncan was the only other ACC player to end his career with 2,000 points, 1,500 rebounds, and 400 blocked shots.
