Born and raised in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , Rucci received a Bachelor degree in philosophy and literature from Temple University before attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York . Throughout his career he has worked in many different areas of the fashion industry, however, his principal focus has always been luxurious women’s apparel. Rucci works with Europe ’s finest embroidery houses and fabric mills, developing new fabrics and prints which incorporate his own artwork. Much of his inspiration is drawn from fine art, ranging from the Renaissance to the works of contemporary artists such as Cy Twombly, Francis Bacon and Joseph Beuys.
