Pradeep Patwardhan reportedly died of heart attack.
Patwardhan passed away on August 9, 2022 at his residence in Girgaon, an area in southern Mumbai. He was 64.
His death was confirmed by his friend and actor Vijay Patkar.
“He passed away due to a heart attack today around 7-8 am at his residence in Girgaon. He had some severe health issues but that was five years ago.
“We have known each other for over 38 years. We have done college together. We even worked together in a bank and did a lot of one-act plays there. Whenever I got a chance (as a director, or producer) I took him as an actor. He was a very good actor. We had a great bond. I just lost a close friend. He just called me eight days ago and said, let’s do some work together, alas, that won’t happen,” Patkar said.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also mourning Patwardhan tweeted;
“Pradeep Patwardhan, the evergreen actor who ruled the hearts of the audience with his graceful acting in Marathi cinema, passed away tragically. With his departure, the Marathi art world has lost a great artist,” the Chief Minister wrote in Marathi on Twitter.
“Mourn the sudden passing away of Veteran Marathi actor Pradeep Patwardhan today. His iconic performance in films like Chashme Bahaddar and Mee Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy has left a lasting contribution”, Amit Patkar, Presisident of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee also tweeted.
Pradeep Patwardhan born 1958 was an Indian actor who worked in the Marathi film industry.
He starred in several movies including Ek Full Chaar Half (1991), Dance Party (1995), Mee Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy (2009), Gola Berij (2012) and Bombay Velvet (2015), Police Line (2016), Chashme Bahaddar (2006) and 1234 (2016). Patwardhan also stars in Amol Bhave’s Journey Premachi (2017).
Pradeep Patwardhan is survived by his wife and a son.
