Pharrell Lanscilo Williams is an American record producer, rapper, singer, songwriter, and fashion designer. Alongside close colleague Chad Hugo, he formed the hip-hop and R&B production duo the Neptunes in the early 1990s, with whom he has produced songs for various recording artists.

Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh met back in the early aughts, but it wasn’t instant love — at least for Lasichanh. They were friends for years before things turned romantic, but Williams was smitten from the start.
But Lasichanh had a boyfriend, so for “two and a half years” they were just friends, Williams said. “She just reminded me so much of myself. Different marches to the beat of her own drum — but it was different than the rest of the girls who were, like, completely made up. She stood out.”
The pair bonded over their love of music. “We love music,” Williams said. “We’re both huge Tribe Called Quest fans. So that just cemented that every girl that I’ve had a serious relationship with loved Tribe and if they didn’t, it just didn’t make sense.”
