American actor Peter Macon is one of them. He is most known for playing Lt. Commander Bortus in the Fox/Hulu television series The Orville (2017–present), and in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024), he will play an ape.
In addition to playing the title character in Othello at the Guthrie Theater and in productions of the play in Dublin, Colorado, and Oregon, Macon performed for close to 30 years in Twin Cities theaters such as Penumbra, Illusion, and Children’s Theatre Company. In the science fiction comedy-drama television series The Orville, which Seth MacFarlane produced and which had its FOX premiere on September 10 of that same year, Macon started playing the role of Bortus in 2017.
