Peter Charles Allen was an English footballer who played as a midfielder and holds the all-time appearance record for Leyton Orient. Allen is the only player to have appeared for Orient more than 400 times.
Allen joined Tottenham Hotspur as a schoolboy after being spotted by Orient manager Dave Sexton. Allen turned professional at Orient in July 1965 and made his debut in September of that year. Allen became a first-team regular in the late 1960s, appearing in more than 40 league matches per season from 1968 to 1973. In 1970, he turned down an offer from Everton.
Allen was known at Orient for his versatility, as he could play in defense when needed while also scoring goals from midfield. Allen received a testimonial in 1976, the year he broke Arthur Wood’s appearance record at Orient. Allen appeared in 491 games for the club in all competitions, scoring 29 goals.
