Penelope Jane Taylor, a retired professional basketball player from Australia, played with the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA for most of her 19-year career. There, she had remarkable success and won three titles.
Taylor spent a significant amount of time playing for the Mercury, and in 2017, she was named the team’s Director of Player Development and Performance. She was in charge of assisting the players in honing their abilities and reaching their maximum potential.
Taylor had a son and took a year off from coaching in 2018. When the Mercury announced her position as an assistant coach in April 2019, she resumed coaching the next year.
Diana Taurasi, Taylor’s husband, was reportedly a member of the Phoenix Mercury as of September 2019. Taylor used to play with Taurasi, and the two remain close friends both on and off the floor.
Despite her success as a coach, Taylor made the decision to leave her employment as an assistant coach for the Mercury in July 2020 in order to devote her whole attention to being a mother.
Although she is proud of her accomplishments as a basketball player and coach, her family always comes first.
