His parents are Jack Kielty and Mary Kielty. In the Dundrum village, Patrick Kielty spent his formative years. He is one of John “Jack” Kielty’s three sons, a businessman who unfortunately passed away on January 25, 1988.

The Ulster Freedom Fighters (UFF), a paramilitary group of loyalists that goes by the name Ulster Defence Association (UDA), shot and killed John Kielty. The reason for the killing is thought to have something to do with John Kielty’s significance as a witness in Central Television’s defense against a libel lawsuit brought by Jim Craig.
